While mom's away...

I was out of town this weekend for a retreat with women from church, and J held down the fort at home.

Number one on Bo's agenda was a science experiment or two and dad was happy to oblige.

Meet the bubble rocket.

The original plan was to do something with mentos and a carbonated beverage, but they could not find mentos at the store, so they settled on a version that used antacids instead.

The blast off did not exactly go according to plan.



J said Bo handled the situation really well even though he was disappointed. The good news is that we found an old film canister, so we now have all we need for another version of a rocket.

We're hoping for a better result next time!

It's nice when she gets her own breakfast!

It will be nice when she learns to clean up after herself.

Totally kidding. I did make Sadie breakfast this morning.

I'm pretty sure she thought it was delicious.

Diggin' the sunshine

With sunshine and temps in the seventies, we've enjoyed being outside! Sadie found a new spot and she loves standing in the doorway with the wind in her hair. She hung out here a lot this week!

I know winter's not over yet, but we're enjoying the warm days while we can!

JUMP!

Thursday morning we left Ella's ballet a little early so we could meet up with Bo in the school's gym to watch the kindergartners jump rope. We LOVE going to the school and it was awesome to witness the festivities! Even daddy was off work and was able to join us.

We got situated in the gym. Bo's class was in the bright green t-shirts.

Ella complained that the music was too loud [it was loud] but she got used to it before too long.

Jack is just, well he's really more fun than you can imagine these days.

Sadie was content to play with the pile of extra jump ropes. I think they were there for parents and siblings to join in the jumping festivities, but we never got the official invite to join the jump.

And the jumping began! The students were divided into groups and came out in rotating order to jump. Bo was a maniac with the windmill.

He has more energy than I do, for sure!



Daddy and Ella helped Sadie do some jumping as well.



Kind makes you wanna jump, jump, jump :)

The boy never stops moving!

One of the highlights of our weekend at my parents was that it coincided with a visit from my sister-in-law and Bradford. It was total icing that they got to be there and that we got some time to visit.

And this little man...



...seriously, he is awesome! I love the fact that Sadie has cousins her age. There are the twins, Bradford, and Jason's sister's baby, Max, that are all within about six months of each other. Wild to think she'll graduate the same year as four of her cousins!

It will be interesting to watch them grow for sure. At this point, Sadie had a bit of a hard time keeping up with Bradford.

Not to worry though. He was happy to help her get around.

She loved the ride so much that she cried whenever Bradford had to stop so we could turn the train around. Precious!

We must see you again soon, Mr. Bradford!

Birthday at School

We planned to take treats to school for Bo's birthday last Friday, but then it snowed.
Monday was the Valentine's party at lunch so we couldn't bring cake then.
Tuesday Bo eats lunch earlier than the rest of his class.
That meant that Wednesday, the 16th was his birthday celebration.

He found a recipe in one of my cook books and insisted that was what he wanted. Cookies made from a box of funfetti cake mix. What is it with sprinkles? My kids just think they are the best thing ever.

We lunched.

We sang.

We celebrated six years.

It was priceless to be there with him and to see the look on his face when he saw us waiting outside the cafeteria.

Ella spent her time in the lunchroom making friends with the girls sitting next to her.
"Mommy," she declared as we got in the car, "those girls were so nice. I can't wait to go to school and they will be my friends!"

Soon enough, Ella, you'll go to school soon enough.
Geez, they just grow up too fast!
